Prospects for land, rent and housing in UK cities

Coming out soon: report by Michael Edwards provisionally titled Prospects for land, rent and housing in UK cities. This paper was commissioned by the Foresight programme on the future of UK cities within the Office of the Government Scientist.
The paper builds on much of the work already reported on this site —essentially a political economy of the land and housing system— and elaborates it by presenting nutshell accounts of the situation in various types of settlement —casting the analysis 45 years into the future as a way of exposing some of the possibilities open to the society and the dire consequences of doing nothing in a vain attempt to get ‘back to normal’.
